God gave Moses the road map into His presence. This road map is more than a historical account of a Jewish religious custom. This is a relevant road map of the biblical protocol and pattern we follow to access the presence of Jehovah God.
The Old Testament tabernacle shows us the seven practices of the presence of God. When God gave Moses the plans for the tabernacle in Exodus 25–31, He told him where to place the gate, the altar of sacrifice, the laver, the lampstand, the table of shewbread, the altar of incense and the ark of the covenant. These represent the seven manifestations of the practices of God’s presence.
When you begin to commune and fellowship with Jesus by practicing His presence, you have entered through the gate. You have entered the realm of the spirit, because it’s impossible to experience His presence from outside. Suddenly, Jesus is real. And when Jesus is real, faith is born. You don’t need to seek faith; you only need to seek Jesus, and He’ll give you the faith.
Let me share special insight and clarity on something very important. People have gotten off track by seeking faith instead of seeking Jesus. Sometimes people confess scriptures and claim healings, but nothing happens. This is because they have not waited upon the Lord first. They have not waited for His Holy Spirit to move.
Genesis 1 says first the Spirit moved, and then God spoke. God always speaks into the wind of the Spirit. He always speaks after the Spirit moves. When you don’t enter the spirit realm first and wait for God to speak, even things you do that seem spiritual are being done in the flesh, and they produce no lasting results.
You and I can only enter the spirit realm by waiting upon the Lord. It may take a half hour, an hour, or even longer, but this time will not be wasted. As we wait, we are quickened, and when we are quickened, Jesus becomes real. When Jesus becomes real, a song is born. And when a song is born, something happens.
We come to the altar of sacrifice, where the blood of Jesus becomes more real than our bondage. At that moment, as we are practicing the presence of the Lord, our hearts break open. His Word says, “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise,” (Ps. 51:17). There is brokenness, repentance, cleansing and forgiveness. “Old things are passed away,” (2 Cor. 5:17), and the very memory of sin is gone from our souls.
The practice of the presence of God is the realm of the spirit, and in the realm of the spirit the promises of God are activated. In the realm of the spirit, victory comes to you. You can’t win over your sin outside of that realm. It is impossible. Because the Bible says, “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus [which means in the Spirit] hath made me free from the law of sin and death,” (Rom. 8:2). You cannot truly know the love of God without that realm.
The minute you are in Christ in the spirit, His love is real. “[Pray] always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,” (Eph. 6:18). You enter in as He quickens you, and at the gate you experience Jesus. At the altar you experience His blood, and at the laver His Word. You learn His will at the lampstand. Then you surrender at the table of shewbread, and He takes over your vessel. Lastly, you worship at the altar of incense, and His glory wraps around you as you experience the ark of the covenant where He speaks to you. And now you walk out, and He will come with you. {eoa}
