Ex-Lesbian: This Sinful Snare Will Trap You in a Web of Desires

Share:

Ex-lesbian Jessica Newsome says sin is like a spider. Unless we obliterate the root cause of our sin, it will keep coming back and making a new web of desires.

As James 1:15a (NIV) says, “After desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin.”

“Every sin pattern that you have, it’s like a spider web, right?” Newsome says. “And it’s intricate, and it’s detailed, and it’s big. It’s a mess. And every spider web, it has a spider, right? It has something that’s behind it, that’s weaving this thing into play, and it wants to trap you and wants to defeat you. It wants to take you out.

“But God says, ‘You know what? You need to have patience. I’m going to remove the spider web. I’m going to remove this sin pattern in your life. But first I need to get to that spider. I need to kill your desire. I need to kill your desire for that sin.'”

Newsome wishes she had been quicker to say yes to God when He was telling her to change, she says on the The Victory > The Struggle podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network.

“Everything was good for a season and then all of a sudden I started to have thoughts of same-sex attraction. It would just be thoughts in my mind, Man, OK, well, you know, I miss my ex, or the relationship we had, different aspects of that relationship. And then that could grow into looking at other females. … Sometimes we put our blessings on pause; we can put everything on pause, because we aren’t saying yes to God.”
