Dr. Ted Baehr, founder and publisher of Movieguide®, today announced the most uplifting movies of 2021 for the 30th Annual Movieguide® Awards.

“Every year, I am thankful that the good, the true, the beautiful succeed in both the box office and in streaming,” Dr. Baehr says. “It was wonderful to see theaters reopen in 2021, and it was even better to see how well movies with strong values performed.”

The 30th Annual Movieguide® Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry will be virtual this year. Dr. Baehr is delighted to interview and include in the broadcast some of the biggest movers and shakers in the entertainment industry who have chosen to include positive elements in their movies.

“People mistakenly think that if they put more violence, more sex, more language in their movies that it will attract a broader audience, when the opposite is true,” Dr. Baehr says. “The movies that bring in the most people are pictures that promote inspirational elements such as kindness, self-sacrifice, faith, forgiveness, redemption, honoring parents, courage, teamwork and honesty.”

Dr. Baehr and his team at Movieguide® thoroughly research and analyze nearly every movie that hits theaters, including special limited releases and major streaming titles. The team evaluates each picture for worldview, content, foul language, immorality, drug/alcohol use and abuse, among many other elements. The team finds that movies with morally and spiritually uplifting content and without graphic violence, foul language, sex, nudity and substance abuse are generally the most popular movies.

The categories for Movieguide® Awards include the Best Movies for Families, the Best Movies for Mature Audiences, the Epiphany Prizes® for Most Inspirational Movie and TV Program, the Faith and Freedom Award® for Promoting Positive American Values in Movies and in Television and the Grace Prizes® for Most Inspiring Performances in Movies and Television.
