Campbellsville University Students the Latest to Join Nationwide Revival

Revival continues to break out all over the country, and it has begun to take hold at a second school in Kentucky.

While revival has been happening for 11 days now (as of Saturday) at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, there is another brewing at fellow Christian school Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Kentucky, where campus minister Trey Creason told Kentucky.com that the school’s daily prayer service extended well beyond its normal 12 hours, continuing on more than 12 hours after it was scheduled to wrap up.

Creason says time has been spent this month focusing on the presence of God and prayer at Campbellsville.

CU President Dr. Joseph Hopkins led times of prayer and devotion as an evening prayer time stretched into the wee hours.

“Students continued to spend time praying, worshipping and reflecting until around 2:45 a.m.,” Creason said. “God has been working in great ways in so many avenues on campus the last two years and continues to do so.

“Every Monday and Thursday we open our chapel to prayer from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.,” Creason said. “This week I sent out an invitation to pray to our campus and local ministers during this time and invite them to an intentional time to pray last night at 9.

“During our time together, we took intentional time to pray for our students, faculty, staff, praying for ministries on campus and various needs,” he added. “We had numerous support from our community show up to pray during this time.

“President Hopkins remained with us the duration of the night helping lead times of worship and reflection,” Creason said. “Students continued to spend time praying, worshipping and reflecting until around 2:45 am. God has been working in great ways in so many avenues on campus the last two years and continues to do so.”

In a Facebook post, Vivian Daugherty Edwards said, “Revival is breaking out on the campus at Campbellsville University. The president is leading in worship. So thankful my kids are a part of a godly university. Can’t wait to see how God moves on the campus.”

Shawn Lacefield Knapper, whose daughter attends Campbellsville and visited Asbury to worship, says her daughter sent the following via text Friday night:

“The worship team then left and on their way from Asbury they came up with music and prayed about the revival happening at Campbellsville. God is working and you can doubt it if you want, but the world needs Jesus right now more than ever. He is showing us that hope isn’t lost and even amongst the chaos he will hold us.”

This was still going on at 1 a.m. and the President of her college was leading worship on his piano until the worship team got there.”

“How blessed I am to know my daughter attends this school,” she added. “How blessed I am to get a text like this from my daughter even at 1 a.m. Thank you Jesus. I don’t deserve what You do for me.” {eoa}
