Isaiah 7:10-13

The Sign of Immanuel
Moreover the Lord spoke again to Ahaz, saying: Ask for a sign from the Lord your God. Make it either as deep as Sheol or as high as heaven. But Ahaz said, I will not ask, nor will I tempt the Lord. Then he said, “Hear now, O house of David. Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary my God also?”

Seraphim

Some of the heavenly beings are called seraphim. This is only found in Isaiah 6 when the great prophet had his transforming vision. Isaiah’s king and cousin, Uzziah, had died, and the prophet went into the forbidden holy of holies! In his grief he needed a word from God even if he died in His presence. Upon entering the holy of holies, Isaiah saw the Lord high and lifted up in majesty and glory! In this place, seraphim worshipped God crying, “Holy, holy, holy.” As Isaiah looked upon this scene, he was provoked to confess his own unworthiness. A seraph brought a coal of fire from the altar where the blood sacrifice burned and placed it upon the prophet’s lips, cleansing him and redirecting his life. {eoa}
