Arnold Schwarzenegger Likens Bible to ‘Fantasy’

Sometimes, about once in a blue moon, a modern-day celebrity will dole out good advice.

Take Chris Pratt for example. He stood up before millions of viewers and said, “God is real. God loves you and God wants the best for you. Believe that, I do.”

For Hollywood, that is some sound advice.

Then you have the other side of the spectrum, where the advice celebrities spread is not only bad, but anti-God.

Talking to Interview magazine, religious scholars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito gave their often sought-after religious advice on the afterlife.

“It reminds me of Howard Stern’s question to me,” Schwarzenegger recalled. “‘Tell me, governor, what happens to us when we die?’ I said, ‘Nothing. You’re six feet under. Anyone that tells you something else is a [blank] liar.’

“I said, ‘We don’t know what happens with the soul and all this spiritual stuff that I’m not an expert in, but I know that the body as we see each other now, we will never see each other again like that.'”

Well, perhaps Arnie does know, or he no longer believes what he was taught in his Catholic upbringing.

But for the reported 2.6 billion Christians in the world, a large majority take comfort in the fact that they do know what is going to happen when they die.

“We deteriorate,” says DeVito, the voice of Satan in the FXX series “Little Demon.”

“Except in some fantasy,” Schwarzenegger corrects. “When people talk about, ‘I will see them again in heaven,’ it sounds so good, but the reality is that we won’t see each other again after we’re gone. That’s the sad part. I know people feel comfortable with death, but I don’t.”

It takes a large leap of faith to disregard a belief system that has fundamentally shaped the direction of mankind based on it being the one source of truth in life in one fell swoop, but The Terminator manages to do it.

“Because I will [blank] miss the [blank] out of everything. To sit with you here, that will one day be gone?” he asks. “And to have fun and to go to the gym and to pump up, to ride my bike on the beach, to travel around, to see interesting things all over the world. What the [blank]?”

Well, yeah, according to the Bible, the best-selling and most-read book in human history, there will one day be a new heaven and a new earth, all under the power of the returned King Jesus.

Schwarzenegger knows what the Scriptures say from his past studies in Catholicism, and has spoken on them in the past.

“I grew up Catholic, I went to church, went to Catholic school, I learned the Bible and my catechisms,” Schwarzenegger said in a YouTube video, reported by Fox News. “And from those days I remember a phrase that is relevant today: A servant’s heart. It means serving something larger than yourself.

“What we need right now from our elected representatives is a public servant’s heart. We need public servants that serve something larger than their own power or their own party. We need public servants who will serve higher ideals, the ideals on which this country was founded, the ideals that other countries look up to,” he adds.

True words, perhaps this is merely a fleeting thought brought upon by the unknown future that beholds all of humanity.

Schwarzenegger isn’t getting any younger, but then again, none of us are. That is why it is so important for people to be prepared to give an account of their life on earth as commanded in Matthew 24:44, because one day all of humanity will stand before the King of kings and Lord of lords and do just that. {eoa}
