Amy Grant is on a journey seeking the positive aspects of life in the aftermath of her 2022 biking accident, which resulted in a brain injury.

In a recent interview with E! News, Grant shared the shocking surprise she woke up with once her five-hour surgery was complete.

“They asked me, ‘Hey, we’re going into your throat, do you want a face-lift?’ And I said, ‘Dear God, no, I actually have to be on stage in X number of weeks.’ It was a five-hour surgery, and they took it like that. I didn’t ask for it, but I came out of surgery and my neck was a little tighter,” Grant explains.

The accident took a giant toll on Grant, who shared that she felt like an “old beat-up car that went in and got a paint job and had the dents knocked out. And it was just, I mean, that’s a gift.”

Yet even in the face of a tragic event, good can come out of it.

As the doctors were performing surgery on Grant, they made a shocking discovery: a growing cyst that had taken up residence in her throat.

“I had this bike wreck and, unbeknownst to me, I actually had a cyst growing in my throat and because of the trauma of that bike wreck it went into hypergrowth. I had this five-hour surgery, and they took it out,” reveals Grant.

The road to recovery was not without speed bumps along the way however, as Grant had to deal with short-term memory loss as well as reteaching herself how to sing following the ordeal.

“I still have issues with my short-term memory. My balance is still weird. I made a joke about it last night. You know, sometimes I walk around like I’m drunk, and I just have to laugh about all of it,” shares Grant.

“I can’t remember what I can’t remember.”

While Grant is still hesitant to get back on a bike in the wake of her accident, touring is still a passion of hers that she is not planning on giving up any time soon.

“My reasons for touring are—I don’t get on stage because I need to hear applause, I have always loved creating spaces, and I do think it feels like that continues to matter,” says Grant.

In the unpredictable journey of life, God’s unwavering presence serves as a source of strength and comfort, guiding us through the unexpected twists and turns. Even as we navigate a variety of recovery cycles, His divine love and support becomes a beacon of hope, illuminating the path toward healing and restoration.

Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” Embracing this profound truth offers solace and assurance that, with God’s guidance, we can overcome life’s challenges and emerge resilient in the face of adversity.{eoa}
