Christians Quick to Judge Eminem’s Bold Proclamation of Faith in New Song

In a remarkable display of how the gospel is going forth into Hollywood, famous rapper Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, is proclaiming the gospel and God’s deliverance in the new hit song “Use This Gospel.”

The song produced by DJ Khaled with Kanye West and Eminem has hit No. 1 on Christian charts. Over the years Eminem has been open about his struggles with mental health and fighting against the enemies temptations.

In the song he raps, “So my savior, I call on to rescue me from these depths of despair. So these demons better step like a stair, because He is my Shepherd. I’m armed with Jesus, my weapon is prayer.”

Christians across social media have been quick to judge Eminem and his profession of faith highlighting his past sins. The fact of the matter is the song, which clearly encourages people to turn to God in their darkest battles and talks on the importance of prayer, will reach far more people than the average Christian will be able to.

The Bible is clear that when we repent God remembers our sins no more. It is time Christians have that same approach with one another and choose love over judgement.

Romans 14:10 says, “So why do you judge your brother? Or why do you despise your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.”

Is an awakening happening in Hollywood? Eminem isn’t the first celebrity to recently start talking more openly about their faith in God. Shia LaBeouf had a radical encounter with God on the set of his new movie “Padre Pio” which he talks about in depth in an interview with Bishop Barron.

Actor Mark Wahlberg revealed that he starts every single morning with a time of prayer. During an interview with Caron Butler, Wahlberg says, “Faith is the most important thing. That’s how I start my day every day. By the time I open my eyes, before I turn the light on or do anything, I am kind of saying my prayers.”

Wahlberg continues saying, “I go in my prayer room and take that 15 or 20 minutes to express how grateful I am.” The actor says he prays for everyone in his life especially those who are going through hard times.

Instead of looking at these celebrities through the lens of judgement, believers should be praying for them that they would continue to be strengthened in their faith. Jesus is the One who we are called to look up to.

Anyone who looks up to a celebrity and models their life after them is idolizing that person over God. Eminem is a human being, just like the rest of us, who is fighting off the enemies schemes and talking about the Jesus in his craft.

Christians shouldn’t look up to these celebrities to model their faith after, instead look to the King of Kings who is the perfect display of the characteristics of God and celebrate what God is doing in Hollywood. {eoa}
