Israel Houghton is about to drop a new single tomorrow, as teased on his Instagram.
The singer-songwriter, who has weathered his fair share of drama in recent years, opened up about the shame he's been battling in a series of devotionals that tease the new release.
"You know how certain songs come with their own set of reverb so to speak? This is one of those songs for me. It speaks to the very fabric of my life. Past, present & future. The visuals that this song paints, God's furious reckless unstoppable love, grace, redemption & unrelenting mercy for us. Wow!" Houghton posted to Instagram.
"I mean... there's no wall You won't kick down- lie You won't tear down...? Come on... what a picture of our God. In my most reckless moments He matched and overwhelmed that recklessness with a crazy reckless love of His own. This song.... It has impacted me so much that I chose to make it the lead single for my new upcoming release. The single releases March 9. In 2 days. I'm excited about it. I'm excited about sharing the freedom that comes with being transparent and surrendered to the force of God's favor. This song certainly helps to underscore that in the most poignant way. Get ready to download it and let that reverb and echo of His presence wash over you as well. Thank you @coryasbury@calebculver & @ran_jackson for this trailblazing masterpiece of a song. #WorshipWednesday #WorshipWriter#WorshipWins #NewSingle #March9#NewMusic"
The risk of being honest can lead to people ostracizing you. It's easier to cling to the persona, the stage, the reputation that people want to see. But in my weakness, my God is strong. When I was reckless, His reckless love chased me down and brought healing that I never experienced. This is #RecklessReflections #Part1 #RecklessLove
It's torment to look in the mirror, and not recognize the man in the reflection. How amazing would it be to love someone through their honest and ugly moments?! It takes a journey to work off the mask to become authentic and whole. Honesty is the door to finding a love that brings an identity found only in Christ. This is #RecklessReflections #Part2 #RecklessLove #NewMusic #NewSingle
Isaiah 50:11 Questions who has the fear of the Lord, and those giving off an illusion as if everything is okay will lie in torment. I've been in the best of the best ministries, the best green rooms, and stages receiving praise of how great I am...while living in torment with myself knowing everything was not okay as it appeared. #RecklessReflections #Part3 #RecklessLove #NewSingle
Bad things happen, and shame doesn't just pack its bags. Even on the other side of healing, shame will still knock, call, and text to hold its grip. But Jesus came to bring us true freedom. Not freedom with remorse. He came to make us free indeed. But the battle between shame and freedom is real, and I choose to lock the door to shame. #RecklessReflections #Part5 #NewMusic #RecklessLove
