It’s a Christmas miracle—in space.
Holiday lights that adorn houses and make neighborhoods glow can be seen from the international space station, showing astronauts Christmas spirit is something to unite us all.
When NASA started studying how lights are seen from space, the first thing they noticed, was the effect of holidays and how that changed what the astronauts saw.
“We were really surprised to see this vibrant increase in (light) activity during the holidays,” says Miguel Roman of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
