Skit Guys Bring Hope, Laughter Through Popular Family Video Series

The Skit Guys returned with a second season of their popular online video series, Bedtime Bible Stories With the Skit Guys, on Aug. 23, 2020. The series launched on social media platforms in April as a response to the COVID-19 lockdowns and became an immediate hit with individuals and families all over the world. Featuring Tommy Woodard and Eddie James, the series returns for a new season, featuring hilarious skits that invite viewers into Bible stories and offer hope from God’s Word.

“We were amazed and humbled by the reach of Bedtime Bible Stories,” says Eddie James. “What began as sort of a whim to fill a space for families during a difficult time turned into a community all around the world.” Tommy Woodard adds, “The level of engagement from fans blew us away. We had families sending in videos of themselves singing the theme song, photos of kids holding up their Bibles, and stories from families whose children decided to follow Jesus as a result of these stories.”

Each episode of Bedtime Bible Stories With The Skit Guys features a story from Scripture, a thematic keyword, a prayer and a Bible verse that viewers are encouraged to memorize over the course of a week. The show airs at 7:30 p.m. CT on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday nights on Facebook, IGTV, Twitter and YouTube, and viewers engage with the video and each other in a Facebook chat while it airs.

K-LOVE radio network has joined as a partner/sponsor of Bedtime Bible Stories, seeing the content aligning with K-LOVE’s mission to create compelling media that inspires and encourages people to have a meaningful relationship with Christ.

Throughout season one, The Skit Guys received thousands of messages from fans of all ages. Parents, in particular, were grateful for the uplifting messages during challenging times. One family sent a video of their son explaining what he learned in a recent episode, saying, “This is Landon who is 3 years old from West Virginia. He absolutely loves your bedtime stories and runs to the phone every time he hears your song start. It is like having Sunday school for him every day even though the church building is closed. Thank you for doing this for the church. You’re truly a member of the body of Christ. We appreciate you.”

The new engagement with families, after decades of serving the local church with videos and scripts, led The Skit Guys to launch sgTV (skitguys.com/sgtv), where families can stream all the past episodes of Bedtime Bible Stories and watch other family-friendly videos James and Woodard have created over the years.

The Skit Guys decided near the end of season one to offer a free Bible to any viewers or fans who needed one. They received requests for everyone from toddlers to retired people. They continue to let viewers know that anyone who needs a Bible can get one by simply requesting one.
