Covenant Relationships: The Backbone of Successful Business

Share:

“Our employees have seen, by watching us as business partners, and doing life together as well, what it looks like to be in a covenant relationship as brothers in Christ.” —Edmund Williams

That’s a quote from one of two air-conditioning business partners we interviewed recently, who refer to themselves as “brothers” and as having “a covenant relationship.”

The term “covenant” is most often used in the bible to refer to commitments between God and man, or in marriage between a husband and wife, but business? Makes perfect sense to us!

The term covenant is defined as “a chosen relationship in which two parties make binding promises to each other.” If covenants are the backbone of the biblical narrative, perhaps they should be the backbone of our work.

And the significant relationships in our businesses should be taken as seriously, and defined as such. Surely if God designed them, He would want us to use them! Deuteronomy 7:9 says, “He is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and mercy with them who love Him and keep His commandments to a thousand generations.”

When will you commit to shifting work relationships to covenants? {eoa}
