R.T. Kendall: How to Get ‘More of God’

Do you long for a deeper relationship with God? Prolific author and pastor R.T. Kendall says the answer is no secret.

The author of more than 60 books and former minister at Westminster Chapel in London reveals this simple task in his new book, More of God (Charisma House, 2019).

“The way to get more of God is to spend time with Him and to know His Word,” Kendall told host Dr. Steve Greene on the “Greenelines” podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network. “Get to know the book He wrote, the holy Scripture. It’s the Holy Spirit’s greatest product. And He wrote it.

“It’s so simple. Spend more time in prayer and more time reading His Word. Get to know His Word so well; that’s how you get more of Him. Just get to know Him for what He is, what He’s like. That’s the idea of this book.”

Kendall explained that many Christians simply want more from God than of Him.

“Sadly, we’re living in a day where we just use Him,” Kendall says. “People are not interested in knowing Him and His way. I wrote the book so that people can get to know what He is like and love Him for who He is, not what He can do for them. Mind you, we do want things from Him, and He promised to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. But I felt that the time had come that there ought to be a book on wanting more ‘of’ him.”
