Singer Demi Lovato thanked God for keeping her “alive and well” after a drug overdose left the singer fighting for her life in the hospital.

According to CNN, the pop megastar was rushed to the hospital July 24 following a suspected overdose. Lovato has been very open about her struggle with substance abuse. Fans became very concerned for her welfare when, earlier back in June, Lovato released a song entitled “Sober,” which revealed she had relapsed into her drug habit. But her message posted to Instagram yesterday paints a distinctly more positive picture.

“What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet,” she wrote in a post which has been liked over 4.5 million times. {eoa}
