Hobby Lobby’s Green Family Donates Millions to AG Christian University in Missouri

Evangel University President Dr. Mike Rakes today announced a $10 million gift from the Green family, owners of Hobby Lobby and Mardel, to support several presidential initiatives, including the complete renovation of a residential dorm, a new state-of-the art arena and a field house on campus.

This is the largest gift given to the university in its 67-year history and will serve as the lead gift for a $22 million new construction campaign.

“We thank the Greens for their landmark contribution,” said Rakes. “This gift fuels growing momentum as we expand the university’s footprint to raise up Spirit-driven students full of compassion with the skills to innovate in every vocation. This investment is the spark needed to continue transforming the student experience and move the university into the future.”

Disney World Has Always Been a Godless World

When Disney bought a 30-minute TV program in the late 60’s to announce their new theme park, no resident of Florida or member of the American church could have predicted how powerful Disney would become.

With a variety of fake business names, Walt Disney’s company bought 55,000 acres of pastureland at $110 an acre. In an effort to appease Walt Disney’s growing entertainment business, Florida granted Disney the right to set up the Reedy Creek Improvement District, a self-governed special taxing district that can make its own laws and levy taxes against themselves while taking advantage of multiple tax breaks.

When I reported for the Orlando Sentinel, I witnessed firsthand the challenges and problems that Disney World created for city and county governments. In Orange County, Florida, Disney World is like a black hole in the middle of the county where the county has no jurisdiction.

Iconic Sports Magazine Slammed for Saying Victory for Praying Football Coach Would Be ‘Erosion of a Bedrock of American Democracy’

Sports Illustrated’s take on a Christian high school football coach whose quest to pray on the 50-yard line left him without a job is raising eyebrows.

Joe Kennedy, former head coach for the Bremerton High School football team in Washington state, made national headlines when he was fired in 2015 for praying on the 50-yard line and allowing students and community members to join him.

Critics have widely panned the firing over the reality that players and locals voluntarily chose to join Kennedy after the conclusion of the games. Others have warned that Kennedy’s actions violated the separation of church and state and were appropriately disallowed. {eoa}
