Russian Tank Kills Daughter of Well-Known Pentecostal Pastor in Ukraine

A well-known Pentecostal pastor announced on Ukrainian national television that his adopted daughter was killed in her apartment by a Russian tank. Pastor Gennadiy Mokhnenko opened his interview by saying, “I’m sorry. I’m not very able to say something intelligible today because a few hours ago I was informed that one of my daughters was shot in Mariupol [Ukraine].”

Mokhnenko continued through his tears, “I have 35 [children]. I managed to bring out the younger children, but I could not return [to] Mariupol. We ran into the front line [of the war].”

Sources confirmed that the pastor transported his younger children to safety while planning to return to Mariupol for his older children. He could not take all of the children and their families on the first trip because he has 38 children, 3 biological and 35 adopted.

Mokhnenko is also the senior pastor of the Church of Good Changes in Mariupol, the founder of multiple foster homes and is described as “the ideological mastermind” of the charity fund Pilgrim, the largest rehab project in Ukraine for adults and kids with drug addiction. Mokhnenko received international recognition in 2016 when he was the subject of Almost Holy, a documentary about his work with street kids in Ukraine.

“Putin’s [scum] killed my daughter in Mariupol … They shot from a tank into the apartment recently received by Vika, a former orphan,” Mokhnenko says on Facebook.

He then mocks Russian President Vladimir Putin. “Putin says, ‘As part of the operation of demilitarization and denazification.’ To the apartment of an orphan, my 27th adopted daughter, from a tank as part of ‘demilitarization.'”

He also addresses Russians directly. “To an orphan’s apartment from a tank. Demilitarization. They will tell you on TV that this, like the aerial bombs that are raining down on Mariupol right now, is just a Ukrainian fake.”

“And your tanks naturally ‘save’ us and our children,” he adds. “Inhumans. Heaven will present you with a bill for lies, for silence, for cowardice and eight years of stupidly agreeing to be deceived by propaganda.”

Mokhnenko continues his address to Russians by talking about the toll the war is taking on them. “You are already paying [with] thousands of your sons, whose bodies are rotting in the fields of Ukraine. And I asked you, begged you, exhorted you, ‘What are you doing?’ Now, I am not very able to reflect. Like many fathers [and] mothers at such a moment.”

Mokhnenko ends the news video by talking to Vika, his deceased daughter. “Forgive me, Daughter, that I could not protect you. I really tried.”
