Since its founding in 1998, Wagner University has sought to disrupt traditional seminary education. Founder Dr. C. Peter Wagner wanted to make seminary-level education available to more people regardless of past educational status. Realizing that God calls people to Christian service from all backgrounds, Wagner would be the door to ministry to anyone who felt called. Today, the global university is fulfilling that vision, serving thousands of students around the world through its unique online cohort, residential training and interactive community model of education that is disrupting the traditional seminary world.

While teaching at Fuller Theological Seminary for almost 30 years, Peter Wagner realized that only 25% of the population could receive the equipping education that Fuller, a traditional seminary, provided. Realizing that God was doing a new thing and calling more people to join the work of fulfilling the Great Commission, Wagner broke with tradition and launched what has now become a global university seeing incredible growth in China, South America and once again in the United States. Though he passed on to be with the Lord in 2016, his innovative spirit opened the doors for thousands of students to prepare and launch into ministry.

Today the global university has expanded to four continents with rapid growth happening in Asia (specifically China, Japan and South Korea) and South America.

“There is such a hunger and a thirst for ministry training in countries like China, Brazil and others that is fueling the growth of Wagner and the growth of Christianity across the globe,” said Dr. Ché Ahn, international chancellor for Wagner University.

Wagner continues to offer its own degree programs in bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate programs and recently partnered with Shiloh University to offer fully accredited programs for those wanting an accredited degree upon completion. Either way, a path to ministry opens for graduates of Wagner.

“The majority of our students are already involved in leading some type of ministry,” Ahn said. “We’ve seen the educational experience offered at Wagner take our students to a new level of ministry impact and global community, connecting Christian leaders relationally around the world.” {eoa}
