What Does Australian Health Official's 'New World Order' Reference Really Mean?

While many want to dismiss it as simply a "clumsy choice of words" or an "innocent turn of phrase," Australian health official Dr. Kerry Chant's reference to the "new world order" when it comes to COVID restrictions has caused quite a stir worldwide.

When answering a journalist's questions about whether contact-tracing would be put back in place "once we reopen," Chant, chief health officer for New South Wales, said, "We will be looking at what contact-tracing looks like in the new world order—yes, it will be pubs and clubs, and other things, if we have a positive case there [but] our response may be difference if we know people are fully vaccinated," Newsweek.com reported.

During a TV press conference Thursday, Chant confirmed workers and customers would need to have been jabbed when New South Wales reopens on Oct. 18 after the state is expected to reach 70% vaccination.

But it was the phrase "new world order" that drew the attention of many and sent social media into a frenzy. Newsweek reported that "new world order" became a trending topic on Twitter in the U.S., the U.K and Australia. In a few short hours, more than 18,300 tweets referencing the phrase appeared across the three countries.

One woman, Amy Tarkanian, tweeted:

Many Christians believe globalism is referred to many times in the Bible, including Scriptures such as Revelation 17:13, which says, "These are one of mind and will give their power and authority to the beast."
