Faith Leaders, Others Celebrate Billy Graham’s Legacy on Third Anniversary of His Death

Three years after the famed evangelist’s death on Feb. 21, 2018, faith leaders and others worldwide celebrate Billy Graham’s legacy even as they continue to mourn his passing. TBN will broadcast a special documentary on Graham’s life, Billy Graham: An Extraordinary Journey tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern. Produced in 2018, the documentary examines how God used Graham to share the gospel message to millions over his lifetime.

In a tweet posted yesterday, Franklin Graham recalled the call that brought the news of his father’s passing:

Franklin Graham’s son Will, also following in the family heritage of evangelism, shared his thoughts in a tweet that pointed to “the promise of eternity for those who call on Jesus as Savior.”

The remembrances of Billy Graham stretched far beyond the Graham family, however. Greg Laurie, senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California, and founder of the Harvest Crusades, noted Graham’s legacy, saying he was “used by God to lead millions of people to Christ”:

And pastor and author Lee Strobel, author of The Case for Christ, asked a key question: Who’s Billy’s successor? Millions of contagious Christians who are trained, equipped and deployed:

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association tweeted out a request for responses from those who may have attended a Billy Graham crusade and received many responses:

Robert Thompson responded to the BGEA tweet with “I attended Billy’s Asheville NC Crusade in 1977 where I rededicated my life to Christ. What an amazing spiritual legacy he left for us to continue until He returns!

And Sandy Anthony posted, “I got saved at his Phoenix Az crusade in 1974. I was 14 years old!”

Jennifer Pelfrey wrote, “Nashville, TN, 2000. The gospel message gave me reason to live after suffering traumatic, personal loss earlier that year.”
