Pentecostal Christians around the country are gearing up for an international evangelism explosion next year through GO 2020, a special edition of Global Outreach Day.

“From the East Coast to the West Coast, Assemblies of God is excited about GO 2020,” said Joe Oden, Assemblies of God National Coordinator for GO2020 and liaison for the Pentecostal Charismatic Churches of North America (PCCNA). PCCNA represents 40 million Christians in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Linked Church in Oklahoma City hosted a Global Outreach Day event in May.

The church is part of the International Pentecostal Holiness Churches (IPHC) denomination. Pastor Guillermo Rivera of Linked Church said his church members and volunteers reached out to the community on Global Outreach Day at a local park.

“We brought out the (Sidewalk Sunday school) truck, baptism tank, and we had served food and brought racks with clothing,” he said. “We served 50 to 100 people. Some people got baptized, and we gave away clothes we brought.”

For 2020, Rivera is leading a network of local churches with ministers licensed through IPHC. “We’re linking churches that have an urban mindset,” he said.

Oden said, “Our goal is to encourage all of 13,000 churches to be a part of this in some form or fashion with as little overall talking point every believer is a witness that each one can reach one as to another level of participation. The pastor could make a couple announcements for a Saturday in May to encourage believers to go share the gospel with someone.”

In Kansas City, YWAM’s GX International hosted an outreach with Bethel Family Worship Center that included a prayer walk, door-to-door evangelism and concert.

“There are were lots of stories of healings, people encountering Jesus and wanting prayer,” said Ivan Freitas, international leader of GX International.

Five teams canvassed neighborhoods and 140 people received prayer, said Megan Nam, outreach coordinator. Eight ministries and three churches participated.

Oden said, “We’re working on a pray, care and share initiative. We’re putting together sermons for pastors on how to cultivate a heart for the lost with care strategies because you connect with care and how to share your faith.”

Assemblies of God USA pastors will have the option to implement a full mobilization of their church with evangelists equipping members with how to move in spirit-led evangelism.

Oden is also helping mobilize PCCNA, which is an organization comprised of the major Pentecostal denominations such as Church of God, Church of God in Christ, Open Bible, Foursquare, Church of God of Prophecy and Pentecostal Church of God among others.

PCCNA President Jeff Farmer launched the “Miracle in May 2020” at the 2018 meeting where member denominational leaders pledged to participate.

Dave Gibson, GO 2020 U.S. director, said, “Imagine, one church sharing one message with one world for one month! GO2020 has the potential to be the most massive global evangelistic movement in history!”

The vision for GO 2020 is, “One Church Sharing One Message with One World During One Month and Every Believer a Witness.”

GO 2020’s goal is to mobilize 100 million believers around the world to reach one billion people.

“Every believer everywhere sharing the gospel with a friend,” said Gibson. “The mission is to mobilize a global church to pray and share the gospel in May 2020.”

The following denominations, churches and organizations are joining Go 2020: Assemblies of God USA, Awakening America Alliance, Campus Alliance, 4/14 Children’s Network, Church of God of Prophecy, CMI Global, Converge, Cru, Fellowship of Christian Assemblies, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, International Pentecostal Holiness Church, International Pentecostal Church of Christ, Institute for Bible Reading, Liberty Church Network, Luis Palau Evangelistic Association, Ministry Training, National Baptists, Open Bible Churches, Pentecostal Freewill Baptist, Pro Athletes Outreach, Rising Sun Outreach Ministries, The Foursquare Church, The United Holy Church of America, United Pentecostal Council of the Assemblies of God, The Fellowship Network, Wailing Women Worldwide, West Irving Church of God in Christ and many more denominations, churches and ministries.
