Seventy years ago, David Ben-Gurion founded the modern state of Israel, fulfilling a promise established in the very first book of the Bible.
Today, the United States followed through on a promise to move the embassy to Jerusalem, which President Donald Trump declared the true capital of Israel.
Though protesters clashed along the Gaza strip, faith and political leaders around the globe praised Trump and the embassy opening as a move that honored both God and American allies.
Here's what they're saying:
The miracle of Israel is an inspiration to the world. And the United States of America is proud to stand with Israel and her people, as allies and cherished friends. pic.twitter.com/hsPHWY6ggN

Israel will always have a special place in my heart, my parents are even buried there.
I am so grateful President Trump has delivered on what past President's did not. God Bless Israel & God Bless the United States of America.

David Jeremiah, pastor, Bible teacher, New York Times best-selling author and nationally syndicated TV and radio host:
America is always stronger when she stands with her allies, a principle made all the more true when that nation is Israel, the Middle East's only true democracy and a beacon of freedom, prosperity, faith and the rule of law throughout the region and the world. For decades, president after president has promised to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, and so, I want to commend this administration for finally and officially being the one to do it, following through on what is nothing less than a truly historic and courageous decision. We pray first for peace today and in the weeks ahead. We also pray that today would ultimately mark a new era of peace and diplomatic possibility in the region. And finally, we celebrate with the Jewish people as America recognizes, once and for all, Jerusalem's rightful seat as Israel's eternal capital city.
LOVE THIS from @netanyahu "What a glorious day! Remember this moment - this is history. We have no better friend in the world, you stand for Israel and you stand for Jerusalem" speaking at the opening of our US Embassy in Jerusalem
