Lou Engle Calls for Global 40-Day Fast Until Pentecost, May 23

Prophetic intercessor Lou Engle, founder of The Call and Lou Engle Ministries, is calling believers to join a global event—The Jesus Fast/Global 2021 Fast—until Pentecost Sunday, May 23.

Beginning April 14, Engle will lead a 40-day fast reminiscent of Jesus’ wilderness experience inaugurating his ministry and the first harvest of Jewish souls.

Also called the Yeshua Fast 2021, the worldwide event is coupled with the Global Ruth Call, named after the biblical Gentile woman who famously told her Jewish mother-in-law Naomi, “Your people shall be my people and your God my God.” (Ruth 1:16b).

“It is our expectation and prescient anticipation that this 40-day fast could be a tipping point for a new day of salvation for Israel and harvest in the earth,” Engle says in the video introducing this fast (3:24).

The vision for Jesus Fast 2021 is rooted in what Engle calls a threefold-cord revelation from the Scriptures.

First, there’s a global spiritual aliyah—the Hebrew word for going up to Israel from among the nations—in which the Gentile church turns its heart and love to Jesus, Israel and the Jewish people based on Ruth’s example.

Second, worldwide prayer for the salvation of Israel becomes a tipping point for a global harvest of souls, described in Romans 11:12-15.

Third, growing expectation for Jewish people to see Jesus as Messiah leads to a new Pentecost from Jerusalem and a global harvest of souls, based on Isaiah 44:1-5 and Ezekiel 36:24-26.

Two prayer points among others include rising anti-Semitism and evangelism to Jewish people.

A daily devotional and prayer guide for Jesus Fast 2021 is available at thejesusfast.global. Watch Engle’s invitation to the event on that site or here.
