For one police officer in Fairfax, Virginia, the fact that he is still alive and well today is nothing short of a miracle.
In what began as routine traffic stop for speeding quickly turned into a series of events that had guardian angels on high-alert.
As reported by Fox News, “The incident happened Monday along Fairfax County Parkway after an officer pulled over a car that was traveling 73 mph in a 50-mph zone, according to Fairfax Deputy Police Chief Bob Blakley.”
The dashcam in the officer’s vehicle caught another BMW careening across the median and was headed straight at him and the car he had pulled over.
Seconds later the spinning vehicle slammed into the pulled over car, ramming it into the guardrail where the officer had been standing fractions of a second before, before pirouetting around the officer mere inches from his legs and then plowing into the front of his patrol car.
“The car involved in that collision yesterday was a whole lot of car for an inexperienced driver,” Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis told reporters. “It was going way too fast. It was a rocket, and then it became a missile.”
After the vehicles and debris settled, the officer on the scene is shown assessing any injuries to passengers in the first vehicle and reported the accident to headquarters.
“My cruiser was hit. Driver was hit. I’m trying to check on injuries,” he is heard calling in on his radio.
Detectives at the scene concluded that the speeding BMW was travelling “well over 120 mph when it lost control” and “undoubtedly, the driver was distracted” according to Blakely.
“That vehicle was just incapable of handling that curve at that speed,” he says.
The Fairfax County Police issued a press release stating the “adult driver in the BMW 750 Series on the traffic stop was taken to the hospital with minor injuries not considered to be life-threatening and has since been released from the hospital.
“The officer sustained minor injuries. The juvenile driver of the BMW M3 and the two passengers sustained minor injuries,” it adds. “The juvenile was charged with reckless driving.
“It’s just miraculous that we are not talking under different circumstances. It really, really is,” says Blakely.
God works in mysterious ways, and He is always watching over His creation.
In this case, the officer on the scene had no idea what was coming his way when suddenly his life was in danger.
Miracles like this are a sign of God’s love and protection over humanity. This officer’s miracle escape from certain death is a powerful reminder to Christians always to put their faith and trust in the Lord. {eoa}
