Why Did Matthew West Get Canceled for Promoting Morality?

Popular Christian singer-songwriter Matthew West has issued an apology for his "modest is hottest"-themed song after facing criticism for promoting "purity culture."

While there is something to be said for humility and for being quick to apologize, even when an apology isn't warranted, we must be mindful of the extreme pressure from those unguided by biblical paradigms. They are on a mission to force believers to relinquish their moral stand and to succumb to their unsanctified versions of right and wrong.

What was West's misstep? He promoted modesty. He argued for the historic position of living decent, moral lives regarding the way we present our bodies. While it's true that most of those making the noise about this strange controversy were not alive prior to the sexual revolution, we cannot allow their demands for looser national morals to go unanswered. They have no grid for the type of modesty our great-grandparents grew up appreciating. To the unredeemed, proudly exhibiting the human body is healthy, empowering and fulfilling while not grasping the destruction they are promoting.

Hobby Lobby Holiday Newspaper Ad Pelted With Secular Backlash

On July Fourth, Hobby Lobby took out a full-page ad in multiple newspapers featuring a prominently placed verse from the Bible along with numerous, pro-Christian, pro-Bible quotes from our Founding Fathers and other key leaders in our history. It then closed with an appeal to seekers to find out more about Jesus. The response has been quite shrill, if not downright hysterical. But is the response in any way justified?

According to a headline on the popular gay atheist blogsite, Joe My God, "Hobby Lobby Goes Full Dominionist In July 4th Ad."

A viral tweet claimed, "Hobby lobby took out a full-page ad in the Register-Guard this morning. Talking about how America should only be led by Christians. Absolutely frightening."

'Let Freedom Ring' Event Lights Up Grand Ole Opry With Prophetic Fire

As America celebrated its birthday on July 4, 2021, at least 4,000 worshippers filled a sold-out event at the Grand Ole Opry for an apostolic, prophetic "Let Freedom Ring" event, which began at 3 p.m. Central and continued for nearly four hours. Hosted by Pastors Kent and Candy Christmas of Regeneration Nashville and featuring a list of speakers that included Robin D. Bullock, Todd Coconato, Timothy Dixon, Hank Kunneman, Mario Murillo and Dutch Sheets, the event was livestreamed to thousands more online and recorded on video.

"We're believing that God is going to move in a fresh way, in a mighty way," Coconato said in a video posted to Facebook ahead of the event. "I believe this is a prophetic utterance that's going to be spoken today that's going to reverberate around the world. ... God is about to pour out."

As Kent Christmas welcomed worshippers to the event, he spoke forth the "apostolic anointing" he believed was on the service and the miraculous healings he expected to come forth, asking God to "break every yoke" and give back to all those who sacrificed to attend. Jasmine Brady led in worship, opening with CeCe Winans' song, "Fire."
