American Family Association Applauds Americans' Resolve to Protect Female Athletes

The American Family Association (AFA) applauds results of the recent Gallup poll, which confirm that the majority of Americans support the biological fact that men and women are not the same.

The Gallup poll, conducted May 3-18 and released on May 26, assessed 1,016 American adults' views about transgender-related issues. One of the questions asked respondents if "transgender athletes should be able to play on the sports teams that match their current gender identity [or] should they be allowed to play on sports teams that match their biological gender?"

Among the poll's findings:

—62% of Americans expressed support for requiring trans-identified athletes to play on the team that matches their biological sex. Support was highest among Republicans (86%), self-described conservatives (85%) and males (72%).

—34% of Americans believed that trans-identified athletes should be allowed to play on sports teams that correspond to their gender identity. Support was highest among self-described liberals (63%), Democrats (55%), women (43%) and college graduates (40%).

"Even with a full-court press from corporate America, Hollywood and Madison Avenue, the majority of people in this country still intuitively understand that allowing biological men to play women's sports is ludicrous, unfair and dangerous," said Ed Vitagliano, executive vice president of American Family Association.

The Gallup poll's results come as several states have passed legislation requiring student athletes to compete in sports that correspond with their biological sex. On June 1, Florida became the latest U.S. state to ban biological males from competing on female public school teams when Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the bill into law.

However, Congressional Democrats are pushing for passage of the Equality Act at the federal level, a legislative initiative billed as a necessary measure to enshrine protections for the LGBT community into law. Critics of such legislation on both sides of the aisle warn that the Equality Act would not prevent discrimination as it claims, but would in fact, specifically entrench discrimination against women, something which women's groups have fought for decades.

Vitagliano commented, "Christians must continue to present the truth to the American people, because the radical advocates of gender insanity will continue their assault on reality. Gender and sexual radicals hate God so much that they are willing to deny what is true and honorable, even if it is in the end devastating to those trapped in these delusions."

Last October, American Family Studios (AFS), the film division of American Family Association, released In His Image, a powerful documentary that challenges the growing sexual and gender anarchy in America today. The film answers that confusion with biblical truth and compassion.

In His Image, which features M.D. Perkins, AFS director Austin Brooks, director Kendra White and onscreen host Dr. Michael Brown, documents the science and proclaims the truth with courage and compassion. The film doesn't shy away from the tough questions: "Can you be gay and be a Christian?" "What if someone genuinely feels trapped in the wrong body?" "Did God make me this way?" and "Is change even possible?"
