Rep. Greene Reveals Her Heart for God on House Floor, Repents of Past Comments

Freshman Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., who was removed from her position on two House committees Thursday, says she regrets making comments on certain social issues a few years back and that those remarks are not representative of her true identity as a person and as an American.

What she doesn’t regret, she revealed in her speech before the House, is her love for God. She made it clear that she is a Christ-follower and that she will, as a Congresswoman, continue fight for the things not only God cares about but what Americans care about.

The Democrat-controlled House of Representatives Thursday voted to remove Greene from her positions on the Budget and Education committees for comments she made years prior to her election in November. Every House Democrat plus 11 Republicans agreed to kick her off the two committees, and many of her colleagues attacked her for her many social media posts that they say promoted conspiracy theories, CBN News reported.

Greene repented of her past words before Congress Thursday.

“These words are words from my past, and they do not represent me nor do they represent my values or the people of my district,” Greene said. “I am beyond grateful for this opportunity [to serve in Congress]. I believe in God with all of my heart, and I am so grateful to be humbled to remind me that I am a sinner and that Jesus died on the cross to forgive me of my sins.

“That is something I absolutely rejoice in today,” she said. “It’s important for us to remember that none of us are perfect. None of us can earn our way into heaven with our acts and our works. It is only through the grace of God. I will tell you that, as a member of this Congress, I am a passionate person, a competitor, a fighter. I will continue to work with you on the good things for this country.”

Members of Congress chastised Greene for comments she has made on subjects like school shootings, 9/11 and QAnon. Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz said of Greene, “She spread cruel conspiracy theories, even claiming the horrific mass shootings in Sandy Hook and Parkland were staged. Greene has also claimed that Jewish-controlled space lasers deliberately caused California wildfires, and that an airplane did not hit the Pentagon on 9/11.”

Before she ever thought about running for Congress, Greene says there were issues she felt passionate about and decided to do some research for herself. But, she says, she was deceived by some of the information she found online and later discovered to be false.

“I started seeing things in the news that did not make sense to me, things that bothered me deeply,” Greene said. “If I watch MSNBC or Fox News, I thought I may not be able to find the truth, so I started looking things up on the internet and asking questions. I didn’t trust the government. A lot of Americans don’t trust the government, and that is sad. The problem with that is that I was allowed to believe things that weren’t true. This is what I absolutely regret.

“If it weren’t for the Facebook posts and comments I liked in 2018, I wouldn’t be standing here today,” she added. “I’ve lived a good life that I’m proud of and that my family is proud of. That is why my district elected me. Later in 2018, when I started finding that these things were misinformation and lies, I stopped believing it. I walked away from those things and I decided I’m going to work hard to try to solve the problems I’m upset about. That’s when I got into politics.

“School shootings are very real, and every parent who has lost a child mourns it,” she said. “9/11 absolutely happened. I remember watching it all day long on TV and crying. I want to tell you that I do not believe it’s fake.”

Greene said one of the things she will continue to fight against as a Congresswoman is abortion and will, in her duties, work for unity among Americans.

“I will not stand for abortion. It is the worst sin this country has ever committed,” she said. “If we’re to say, ‘In God We Trust,’ how do we murder God’s creation in the womb? What shall we do as Americans? Should we stay divided like this? Shall we allow the media—that is just as guilty of presenting lies as truth—to divide us? We allow ourselves to be addicted to hate and hating one another. It’s not the future I want for my children or your children.”
