Can Democracy Have Unity Without Christianity?

Share:

The solution to the challenges that stand before us as a nation are “Democracy and Unity.”

President Joe Biden said, “Democracy has prevailed: Unity is the path forward” in his inaugural address.

In search of unity, I have seen that there is:

— No unity in science.

— No unity in information.

— No unity in education.

— No unity in sports.

— No unity in the news.

— No unity in Hollywood, Wall Street or Washington.

— No unity in Democrat or Republican Parties.

— No unity in the United Nations.

— No unity in the church.

I am amazed that many of my dear friends are shocked that the election did not turn out as expected. It wouldn’t be the first time, and it probably won’t be the last. I am equally shocked and disappointed by responses that I have seen and read in videos and text from my fellow Christians.

We must ask ourselves: Can democracy have unity without Christianity?

Believers have had an awkward wake-up call. We have been so focused on the darkness instead of being the light.

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For the darkness shall cover the earth and deep darkness the peoples; but the Lord shall rise upon you, and His glory shall be seen upon you” (Isa. 60:1-2).

I feel in my spirit a wake-up call and overwhelming hunger for spirituality. We have a wake-up call for morality and our godly calling.

I know I am not alone in this urging of the Holy Spirit. Yet, some of us continue to stay asleep.

To be clear, the church will and can survive without America, but America cannot survive without the church. We want and need for God to bless America. However, deep in my spirit, there is a cry for the church in America to bless God!

Paul writes in Ephesians 1:3, ” Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”

In the middle of a pandemic, “Blessed be!”

In the middle of an impeachment trial, “Blessed Be.”

When an election didn’t go as expected, “Blessed be!”

When arrested, “Blessed be!”

When being flogged, “Blessed be!”

When crucified, “Blessed be!”

Blessing God for life gives birth to His life in us. It’s called the resurrection!

The world is watching us. Will we hide or run away? Will we continue to be complaining and gripey know-it-alls?

The fields are ripe and ready unto harvest. So, 2021 is not what we expect. So what? Colossians 3:2 (NIV) says, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” Let us move forward in the direction of the Lord.

Shout, rejoice and praise! Stand on the Word that says, “For he chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—to the praise of His glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves” (Eph. 1:4-6).

Have an awesome week! You are beautiful; I see Jesus in you. {eoa}
