Gallup Poll: President Trump Most Admired Man in 2020

More than former President Barack Obama and all others, President Donald J. Trump is America's "most admired man" in 2020, a recent Gallup poll reveals. The president tops the list with 18% of the vote; Obama received 15%.

The annual poll released Tuesday.

In 2019, Trump tied with Obama. Trump's receiving the top honor breaks Obama's 12-year run.

According to Gallup, few Republicans name anyone other than Trump, while Democrats' votes were split.

The poll is taken annually without prompting voters. They are simply asked what man they most admire in the world.

A breakdown of the results includes:

—Forty-eight percent of Republicans name Trump this year, with no other public figure receiving more than 2% of Republicans' votes.

—Obama is the top choice among Democrats, at 32%, but that is down from 41% last year. Joe Biden (13%) is also named by Democrats.

—Dr. Anthony Fauci, who serves on the president's coronavirus task force, is named by 5% of Democrats but only 1% of Republicans.

—Independents are evenly split between Trump (11%) and Obama (11%), with another 3% naming Biden and 2% Fauci.

Rounding out the top 10 most admired men are Pope Francis (2%), Tesla founder Elon Musk, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Microsoft's Bill Gates, NBA star LeBron James and the Dalai Lama, finishing with 1% each. Both Fauci and James broke into the list for the first time.

Trump has been included in the poll's top 10 for a total of 10 times; three of those times were prior to his entrance into party politics.

Rev. Billy Graham, who died in 2018, holds the record for being in the top 10 the most. He was recognized as one of America's most admired men 61 times.

In 2020, Michelle Obama was voted the most admired woman for the third year running. She received 10% of the vote, with Kamala Harris (6%) and Melania Trump (4%) following.
