The Supreme Court Plaza was surrounded with crowds and ceremony as the casket carrying the body of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg arrived for two days of public viewing, after which it will move to the Capitol on Friday, making Ginsburg the first woman to lie in state there. The longtime Supreme Court justice, 87, died this past Friday of pancreatic cancer.

Following a ceremony led by Chief Justice Roberts, the Supreme Court entrance is now open to the general public until the transfer to the Capitol, beginning with the clerks who served her during her 27 years at the Supreme Court and who lined up to honor her as her casket was carried into the building.

Evangelist Rick Bolinske was present with a large Israeli flag to honor Justice Ginsburg’s Jewish heritage, accompanied by a sign that said “Trust Jesus. He shared the gospel with an assembled crowd that was both respectful and responsive.

“I have been doing this for 20 years and have traveled to much of the world from South America to Europe to other parts of the world, proclaiming the gospel,” said Bolinske, 68, a former superintendent of recreation in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

Ginsburg’s flag-draped casket could be seen from the Capitol, and the pomp and circumstance, the flags half-mast through the city and the quiet stories being told by parents to children lined up to watch served as testimony to the influence of the former Supreme Court justice and champion of liberal causes such as abortion.

Bestselling author of God, Trump and COVID-19 Stephen Strang says, “Ruth Bader Ginsberg accomplished a lot in her career, and she will be remembered as a great American. But her legacy of backing abortion is to her lasting shame, and now that her seat is open, President Trump must fill it right away.

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water; He turns it to any place He will” (Prov. 21:10.

As Strang reminds us, in just 41 days, an election will take place that has been compared to the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860 in significance, affecting the future of America for the next 50 years. And unless the 59 million believers who did not vote in 2016 step up to the plate and do so, the miracle that has resulted in two (and potentially three) new Supreme Court Justices, nearly 300 new judges, the move of the American Embassy to Jerusalem, the removal of the Johnson Amendment, the demand at the United Nations for protection of persecuted Christians, the support for life, school choice and the restoration of the biblical foundation of America will all come to an end. {eoa}
