Newly Released Kanye West Album Features Spiritual Warfare Song About Chick-fil-A and Jezebel

After numerous delays, Kanye West finally released his latest album, Jesus Is King, today.

The album features 11 gospel songs, all profanity-free and focused on the Lord. Several of the tracks include “Selah,” “Follow God,” “Closed on Sunday,” “On God” and “Use This Gospel.”

A portion of “Every Hour,” the album’s first track, says: “Sing ’till the power of the Lord comes down/Sing ’till the power of the Lord comes down/Sing ’till the power of the Lord comes down/Let everything that has breath praise God.”

His song “Closed on Sunday” appears to be an ode to Chick-fil-A, a Christian-owned fast-food restaurant. The lyrics, in part, say:

“Closed on Sunday, you’re my Chick-fil-A/Closed on Sunday, you my Chick-fil-A/Hold the selfies, put the ‘Gram away/Get your family, y’all hold hands and pray/When you got daughters, always keep ’em safe/Watch out for vipers, don’t let them indoctrinate/Closed on Sunday, you my Chick-fil-A/You’re my number one with the lemonade.

“… Try me and you will see that I ain’t playin’/Now, back up off my family, move your hands/I got my weapons in the spirit’s land/I, Jezebel don’t even stand a chance/Jezebel don’t even stand a chance.”

The album was originally slated to release Sept. 27, but West delayed the release several times, saying that he and his team needed to continue working on the mixes.

At 1:18 this morning, he tweeted that they were “specifically fixing mixes on ‘Everything We Need’ ‘Follow God’ & ‘Water’ We not going to sleep until this album is out!”

West kept his word to his fans and released the album later that day. You can stream Jesus Is King at Spotify.

Earlier today, Charisma News reported that Joel Osteen invited West to his Lakewood Church for services. The two have been in communication recently, according to TMZ. Although Osteen didn’t specifically ask West to perform, he reportedly would be thrilled to have the famed rapper sing. {eoa}
