A moment at the Church of God General Assembly this week.

Tonight’s concluding service of the International General Assembly will focus on the next generation of leaders—what General Overseer Tim Hill has commissioned as the “Jeremiah Generation.”

The service will be a showcase of talent and leadership, led by Hill. Backing up the evening musically will be a massive youth choir, made up of young people of all ages, including those who have traveled to compete in this week’s Junior Talent competition.

Also spotlighted will be Brooke Mills Simpson, an alumna of Lee University who, two years ago, placed in the finals of the popular NBC talent search, The Voice. Her run of several weeks on the show catapulted her career and Christian witness around the world as she boldly proclaimed her love for Christ through testimony and choice of performances.

Currently, Simpson is a church worship leader, along with her husband.

The message of the evening will be led by General Overseer Hill, who will guide the sermon, interspersed with four “Jeremiah Generation” young preachers, tag-teaming with one another to bring a powerful display of anointed messages.

They include:

  • Ashley Ramsey, a Lee University alumna who has served as a chaplain, completed extensive coursework through the Hartford Seminary, serves with Rooted Young Adult Ministry at Rehoboth Church of God and is founder of the Young Preachers Network;
  • Eric Petree, pastor of CityGate Church, a multicultural and multigenerational church where diversity and unity are core values. In 10 years, CityGate has grown from 70 to its current attendance of 2,000, with 1,000 new converts this year alone;
  • Daniel Pinero and his wife, Rev. Jeimy Pinero, are the lead pastors at New Dimension Church in Brooklyn, New York. He also serves as the director of youth and discipleship of the Northeast Hispanic Region;
  • Adrian Franklin is a third-generation Church of God minister who serves as the Christian education director at the South Gastonia (North Carolina) Church of God. The prayer of his ministry is to see that Pentecost stays alive and well with his generation.

The promising future of the Church of God will be on full display at tonight’s close of the 77th International General Assembly. {eoa}
