First Lady Melania Trump tweeted an inspirational faith-filled message after Thursday's deadly massacre at the Annapolis Capital-Gazette.
Today's violence at the Capital Gazette was tragic & evil. My heart goes out to all affected in this brutal & senseless attack, & I send thoughts & prayers for comfort to the friends, family & colleagues of those killed & injured.— Melania Trump (@FLOTUS) June 28, 2018
Five people died and more were injured as Jarrod Ramos fired his way into the Maryland newsroom.
"This was a targeted attack on the Capital Gazette," says Anne Arundel County Deputy Police Chief William Krampf. "This person was prepared today to come in. He was prepared to shoot people."
Krampf says the suspect "looked for victims as he walked through the lower level."
Anne Arundel County police Lt. Ryan Frashure says, "This individual had some type of vendetta against The Capital newspaper and they were specifically targeted."
Trump was not the only politician to turn to God as tragedy struck. Here's what others are saying:
The senseless attack on a Maryland newspaper today is sickening. God bless these journalists. We pray for them and their families tonight.— Paul Ryan (@SpeakerRyan) June 28, 2018

Say their names. Remember who they were and difference they made. They're defined by how they lived, not by the hate of the man who took them. Say a prayer for them and their families #CapitalGazetteShooting
I join in thanking our brave first responders for their immediate response to the situation. My thoughts and prayers remain with the victims, their loved ones, and the entire #CapitalGazette family during this difficult time.— Steny Hoyer (@WhipHoyer) June 28, 2018
My heart goes out to the families and victims of the shooting at the Capital Gazette. We have had to witness far too many of these atrocities, and it is time to put an end to them. I will continue to monitor the scene, and ask you all to keep the victims in your prayers.— Elijah E. Cummings (@RepCummings) June 28, 2018
I am deeply saddened by reports of a shooting at the Capital Gazette's office building. I am praying for the victims and first responders, and I thank Anne Arundel County's law enforcement officials for swiftly apprehending the shooter.— Rep. Andy Harris, MD (@RepAndyHarrisMD) June 28, 2018
