Former Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams is engaged to a Spirit-filled pastor she met at a spiritual retreat last year.
“I was in a horrible, dark place,” Williams tells People. “I just needed to go somewhere where I could get a message of hope and restoration, rejuvenation—get connected to God.”
So she went to an Elevate International retreat, where she met Pastor Chad Johnson, who founded the ministry.
According to the ministry website, Johnson has nearly two decades of serving youth and their families across the nation. His unique brand of ministry has opened many doors that allows him to communicate the truth of God’s Word to those around him. Johnson also serves as a sports chaplain.
“I mean, he was cute,” Williams says, “but I did not go to flirt with the pastor!”
Johnson proposed March 21.
“We do wanna get married very, very soon,” Williams says. “We’ve been moving very quickly and planning. Why wait? I want to get married now, but he wants a wedding!”
