Praise Report: Megachurch Pastor Robert Morris Released From the Hospital

Gateway Church pastor and founder Robert Morris was released from the hospital late Sunday night, one week since an air ambulance rushed him to the medical center for emergency surgery.

We are out of the hospital! @psrobertmorris fell asleep sitting up while I was getting us settled. A week ago, I wasn’t sure if I would have this luxury. So to say I am grateful, well….that is an understatement. God is so good! #outofthehospital #beyondgrateful #Godisgood

Morris underwent multiple surgeries to remove a blood clot and stop internal bleeding from a surgery April 2 to remove multiple hernias.

Gateway Church, a Spirit-filled congregation in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, immediately launched prayer campaigns with campus intercession, as well as online sign-ups for hourly prayer slots.

Praise Be To God! I love that we could attend church even from the hospital. Here’s the scoop: @psrobertmorris is getting out of the hospital tomorrow! While my heart is gushing with gratitude, allow me to gush on. ////Our family. Our kids have stepped up, lead, served, prayed, preached, ran errands and given me breaks. All of our extended family went the extra mile when needed. ////All the ministering angels dressed as doctors, paramedics, and nurses. They were apart of saving his life. ////Our church family and the entire body of Christ. You have been so truly amazing. We have felt so loved. Your prayers have been so important—they mattered. ////Our elders. They have cared for us so beautifully while caring for Gateway with extraordinary care. I can’t tell you how comforting it is to have Pastor Jimmy Evans to step in for a while to allow Robert to recover. We will prayerfully move out of hospital tomorrow but @psrobertmorris has a road to full recovery that they tell us could take months. We are so grateful to be out of great danger but please keep praying for @psrobertmorris. #gettingout #gratefulbeyondwords

Mitchell entertained @psrobertmorris with his version of Riverdance. @psrobertmorris had a big day with a real shower, solid food, and several walks. Praise points: 1) although the pneumonia is still there it is diminishing. 2) fever is gone 3) vitals are improving Our hearts are overwhelmed with gratitude. We have seen miracles! Thank you Jesus! Please pray for: increased strength : no infection.

Ready for some good news? Robert is doing so well he got “kicked out” of ICU! @psrobertmorris got a new room. He even took some walks around the floor. He still has some milestones to reach before he is released from the hospital. So please don’t drop @psrobertmorris From your prayers. Things to pray about: ::patience in the process :: no complications to arise ::strength regained ::good sleep tonight. Thank you sweet people for all the prayers. We have sensed grace at every turn. We have felt love. Your prayers have been the most extravagant gifts of love. We love you!

Update:: No sleep for my sweetie which meant no sleep for me. However, we had our best night in the hospital. Robert continues to improve. His time clock is confused. The doctors are even pleased with his progress. Prayer Points ::Pray for his levels to continue to improve. They are looking really good. God’s goodness and mercy are evident. ::Pray for no setbacks. We want to be on the recovery road with no other detours. :::He is able to get up and walk some today.

Update Our hospital view hasn’t changed but we can see the goodness of God. @psrobertmorris has pneumonia but we have aggressively started treating it. Prayer Points: ::His body is exhausted so pray for renewed strength ::antibiotics work to destroy infection Can I say it again? The thing is, we have been in a highly emotional, physically draining and spiritually exhausting few days and we as a family are tired so it is so comforting to know you are praying. THANK YOU! #yourprayersmatter

Morning Update::: @psrobertmorris is a warrior! There are early signs of possible infection. But there are other signs of improvement. We are rejoicing in the improvements and attacking the concerns in prayer. We hope to get him out of the bed some today. Believe me, he wants to get up! I think he thinks he will walk out of the hospital when he proves he can stand. Of course, after losing so much blood and enduring 4 surgeries he is to weak for that. Getting to a chair will be a victory. Big Prayer Requests ::Any infection to be arrested :::Renewed strength #yourprayersmatter

Update::: Praise God! The last surgery has been a success. @psrobertmorris vitals are remaining strong. Bleeding has stopped. As you can imagine, he has a great deal of pain/discomfort. Prayer points: pain levels decrease, no infection, restful sleep. They tell me that 250,000 people have agreed to pray for @psrobertmorris in 45 countries. YOUR PRAYERS MATTER::: On Sunday when we were waiting for the helicopter to arrive @psrobertmorris realizing he was in serious trouble asked me to post on social media because he believes in the power of prayer. To give some context the paramedics had just told us they could not find a pulse and his blood pressure was too low to read. We were hours from a major hospital. We knew he was steps from heaven’s door. Neither of us knew what to expect from social media. We have been blown away by your care, your prayers and your love. In this instance God mobilized an army using social media. We knew our battle was bigger than we could fight on our own. While heaven seems much farther away, and the crisis has been de-elevated we still needs your prayers. We have some real hurdles to overcome. Tears of gratefulness stream down my face as write. Thank you for storming the throne. I can’t say ‘thank you’ strong enough. Your prayers mattered.
