C. Peter Wagner, a pioneer in the apostolic ministry, is undergoing an emergency surgical procedure for his lungs.

“He is undergoing a huge battery of tests right now to determine how to proceed to ease his breathing difficulty. He will remain hospitalized a minimum of three days, but it could be up to two weeks,” his wife, Doris said. “Peter has struggled with anesthesia in the past. Please pray for all to go well there and ask God for the right person to be administering it with great skill. Ask God to help him wake up smoothly and without incident. Ask God to help Dr. Jett and guide his hands and mind to guide the robot to do what is best. Pray for success in all that is done, and that Peter’s situation will greatly improve.”

The surgery was originally scheduled for 3 p.m. on Tuesday, but Becca Greenwood, co-founder of Christian Harvest, said it was postponed until June 14.

“They want to get 10 liters of fluid off of his body before they do the procedure that is called pleurodesis, which should remove scar tissue from his lungs and prevent further fluid build-up,” Greenwood said. “He is at a great heart hospital in Plano and under great care. Thank you so much to all of you who are praying! He and Doris Wagner so greatly appreciate your faithfulness to pray for his healing!”

Wagner is recognized as a leading authority in the fields of church growth and spiritual warfare. He is co-founder of World Prayer Center and is chancellor of the Wagner Institute in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He holds graduate degrees in theology, missiology and religion from Fuller Theological Seminary, Princeton Theological Seminary and the University of Southern California.

Wagner served as a field missionary in Bolivia for 16 years and he taught on the faculty of the School of Intercultural Studies at Fuller Seminary for 30 years. The author of 70 books, Wagner ministers extensively nationally and internationally from his home base in Colorado.Wagner and his wife live in Colorado Springs.
