A woman is suing Planet Fitness for invasion of privacy, sexual harassment, breach of contract, retaliation and emotional distress.

Yvette Cormier made international headlines when Planet Fitness canceled her membership after she complained about a transgender man in the women's locker room.

The gym claimed her complaint violated their "judgment-free zone." Court documents reportedly indicate there were no signs posted permitting use of locker rooms based on chosen gender, nor was there any specific language in the contract of the transgender man, who goes by Carlotta Sklodowska, to use the women's locker room.

"Mrs. Cormier has filed this lawsuit to protect Michigan women and children and to hold Planet Fitness accountable for its irresponsible policy and actions," Kallman Legal Group, her representatives, says.

Cormier is not alone in her outrage.

"Planet Fitness obviously should rethink its anti-woman, anti-reality policy," Michigan State Rep. Gary Glenn tells MLive. "If they don't, they shouldn't be surprised in a conservative, family-friendly community such as Midland if they lose more female members."

Before her membership was canceled, Cormier offered other suggestions, such as a unisex restroom, but was told Sklodowska was allowed to use the gender locker room he identified with.
