Interviewing Heidi Baker absolutely wrecked me.
When I think of her, I cannot help but consider the prophet Isaiah and the nation-shaping impact that one encounter with God had on his life. (See Isaiah 6.) Standing in the manifest presence of One so holy, so beautiful and so powerful, we cannot help but exclaim, “Here am I! Send me.” In short, this was Baker’s response to God’s call on her life to the nation of Mozambique.

Houses and lodging were experiencing tremendous damage. And yet this woman and her team fearlessly responded to the crisis by running toward it, not away. Only a revelation of God’s matchless power combined with a tender heart of compassion can ignite such radical boldness.
