Four Pentecostal Denominations Join Hispanic Association

Samuel Rodriguez

Four national denominations—Church of God of Prophecy, International Holiness Pentecostal Church, Disciples of Christ-Hispanic Ministry, and the Pentecostal Church of God International Movement—have joined the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC).

Samuel Rodriguez, president of the NHCLC, says the association’s partnership with these denominations represents a “mutually affirmed commitment” to reconcile Billy Graham's message of salvation through Christ with Martin Luther King Jr.'s march for justice.

“NHCLC holds the same values within our Christian faith of the overwhelmingly Hispanic Disciples of Christ churches in the United States,” says Xose G. Escamilla, National Hispanic Board Chair for the Disciples of Christ.

The NHCLC is the Hispanic Evangelical Association unifying, serving and representing millions in the Hispanic born-again Community via 40,118 churches. The association accomplishes this mission by reconciling the vertical and horizontal of the Christian message through the 7 Directives of Life, Family, Great Commission, Stewardship, Justice, Education and Youth.

“This broad national and international representation is another evidence of the solidarity of our movement and the impact it's having on our nation,” says Eliezer Bonilla, senior pastor of Abundant Life Church of God in San Antonio, and NHCLC executive board member. “We know that their presence will add another needed voice and enrich us even more."

William Hernandez, vice president of the Pentecostal Church of God International Movement, says being part of an organization that defends the religious and social biblical principles, standing firm on justice and righteousness certainly conveys our strong commitment with our constituents: “Today more than ever our beliefs must be heard and defended, united as the body of Christ we will endure.”
