Jane Fonda, among the most vocal advocates of the Democratic Party in Hollywood, is absolutely certain Hillary Clinton will be the next president of the United States.

But, she also believes that when that happens, there will be a violent reaction. During interviews at the recent Tribeca Film Festival, she made both points abundantly clear.

"I think that deep down, people feel Hillary can hit the ground running, even if she may not be the perfect candidate for a lot of people," she said. "She's had the experience. The world right now is so complicated—she has the background to deal with all the complications."

But because Clinton would be the first woman to become president, Fonda predicted the backlash would become violent:

"Every time women move forward, there (are) going to be problems. So one of the things we have to do is help men understand why they are so threatened, and change the way we view masculinity. We have a toxic masculinity, and that's what needs to be addressed."
