Friday in Concord, New Hampshire, Republican presidential candidate U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) received the endorsement of the Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

U.S. Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) joins the list of right-of-center members of Congress who have jumped on the Rubio bandwagon in the past month. In announcing his endorsement, Chaffetz said Rubio was a candidate who understood the plight of working-class Americans, and who would keep the U.S. safe from threats at home and abroad.

“I am proud to endorse Marco Rubio for president,” he said. “Like other conservatives across the country, I am fed up with the failed, big-government policies of President Obama. Hillary Clinton will bring more of the same, and we cannot afford four more years. We need a leader like Marco Rubio who understands the struggles of working families—who knows what it’s like to be saddled with student loans and raise kids in the 21st century. In today’s world, where many of us are scared that terror threats abroad will hit here at home and many more fear that America’s best days are behind us, Marco is a voice of strength and optimism. He is a leader we can trust to keep us safe and restore American greatness, and I look forward to electing him president.”

Chaffetz appeared with Rubio at a campaign stop in Columbia, South Carolina, Friday when he made the announcement. Rubio will return to Florida on Sunday, and will present his policies on taxation and the economy Monday at a special event in Sarasota, Florida.

He also has a new TV ad that will appear over the weekend during the first weekend of the NFL football playoffs. The 60-second ad, appropriately titled “Football,” is a repeat of a video his campaign released last fall just before the start of the football season.
