Judicial Watch Is Staying Busy

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton

For the government watchdog group Judicial Watch, it was just another Monday in "the swamp" that is Washington, D.C.:

  • There was a hearing over whether or not the Department of Homeland Security can assert "privacy rights" to block the public from knowing the identities of criminal illegal aliens who were released—"The names of criminals are regularly published," Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said. "The release of the names of these illegal alien criminals is no different, and will help the public know something about how the government is conducting the supervision of these potentially dangerous criminals. Once again, it looks like the 'deep state' is ignoring the Trump administration policies that put the safety of Americans first."
  • Its attorneys filed a motion to force the Department of State to refer Hillary Clinton's email scandal to the Department of Justice in accordance with federal law—"It is astonishing the Trump administration is defending Hillary Clinton's email scheme in federal court," Fitton said. "The State Department should initiate action with the Justice Department—and both agencies should finally take the necessary steps to recover all the government emails Hillary Clinton unlawfully removed."
  • It filed a lawsuit against the Department of State and the Department of the Treasury for records relating to the $400 million apparent ransom payment made to Iran—"The Obama administration's secretive $400 million payoff to the Iranian regime was an abuse of power and may have been illegal," Fitton said. "The Trump administration's agencies should follow the law and release all they can about the Obama-Iran payoff scandal."
  • And it filed a lawsuit against the Department of Education for records relating to the Obama administration's failed School Improvement Grants program—"It is not surprising that the bureaucrats at the Education Department don't want Americans to know that the billions of dollars funneled into public education programs did nothing to help children learn," Fitton said. "The new leadership at the Education Department should release these records about this Obama administration education boondoggle."

Like we said, just another Monday in "the swamp."
