WikiLeaks: Only 44,000 to Go!
Within a few hours, WikiLeaks is expected to release even more of the nearly 50,000 documents from the hack of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman’s email system.
So far, it has released nearly 6,000 “[John] Podesta Emails”—meaning there’s still about 44,000 to go—but the trove we have so far is almost too much to wade through. New revelations seem to pop up hourly, but here are a few new bombshells:
- During an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes back in January, Clinton was reading from a scripted answer to at least one of his questions. This is just further evidence of the levels of collusion attained in the course of the 2016 election cycle.
- An April 2015 memo sent from Podesta to Clinton staffers outlined his goals to limit the number of debates, to hold them late at night during the first four primary contests, and to have them all “multicandidate” so Hillary wouldn’t be judged against a single opponent. It included the DNC’s proposed debate schedule—suggesting the campaign was already getting help from the party long before the Iowa Caucus.
- Also in April 2015, People magazine’s website was giving the Clinton campaign all kinds of “color”—a term for pieces that lack much substance, but project a positive message about a candidate—and wanted more to help drive up their readership. The Clinton campaign coordinated with one reporter to give them exactly what they wanted.
- The Clinton campaign also had its claws in their opponents’ campaigns. An October 2015 email suggests one key staffer to Vice President Joe Biden sabotaged his boss’ own presidential aspirations, then defected to the Clinton campaign.
- And in a March 20 email, a former DNC official provided advice to the Clinton campaign on how to “trick” Bernie Sanders supporters into supporting her ahead of the Democratic National Convention. The plan involved support for reducing the number of “superdelegates” at the convention in the future.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. But overall, the developing narrative of these emails is one that should concern every American: Hillary Clinton and those who work for her will do anything, say anything and go to any lengths to advance their agenda.
