Video: Clinton’s Campaign Manager Doesn’t Sound Too Confident

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager doesn’t sound—or look—very confident about the Nov. 8 election.

In a video released by the Clinton campaign on Wednesday, Robby Mook urges voters not to take the election for granted, and to get to the polls to prevent Donald Trump from winning. But it’s what he said that has raised a lot of eyebrows:

Donald Trump has been going around telling people not to listen to the polls and saying that he can still win this race. Well you know what? He’s absolutely right. Hillary’s got the wind at her back, but we can’t become overconfident. We call states like Florida, North Carolina and New Hampshire battlegrounds for a reason: they can go either way. In fact there was a poll that showed Donald winning Florida. We’ve seen polls tighten since the third debate and we expect things to get even closer before Election Day.”

In the video, Mook encourages Clinton supporters to visit a campaign website to learn about early voting, and how to request an absentee ballot. The site also included information about polling locations for the Nov. 8 general election.

Then, he made another surprising statement:

Make no mistake. With only 10 percent of votes cast, Donald Trump could win this election. But if each one of us makes our voices heard—and we all vote—we’re gonna win.

His facial expression, however, belies a lack of confidence in that last statement. And based on the number of views the video has—slightly more than 12,000—as of this writing, there could be big trouble brewing for the Clinton camp.

According to The Washington Post, which is hardly known for its advocacy of Trump, Clinton lost 8 points of support over the course of a four-day tracking poll it commissioned with ABC News. Meanwhile, Clinton’s running mate, U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.)—who drew a crowd of just a few dozen for a campaign event in West Palm Beach, Florida. on Monday—cancelled a Thursday event in Sarasota, Florida.
