Ted Cruz's Twitter Account Hacked?

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) nearly set off a political firestorm on Monday by allegedly doing absolutely nothing at all.

Monday morning, his official Twitter account shared a link to a Conservative Review article titled "Why Conservatives Will Need a New Party If/When Hillary Clinton Wins." The story itself, written by Daniel Horowitz provides a reasonable analysis of the situation in Washington, D.C.—regardless of who wins—but many headline-only readers decided it was a slam on Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

And since it was being shared by Cruz, that meant he had "come to his senses" about his recent endorsement.

If one read the article, however, it would be very apparent that isn't the case. But there was another problem with making that assumption: Cruz says neither he nor anyone authorized to do so on his staff shared the link.

It was quickly taken down, much to the consternation of many NeverTrumpers, and conspiracy theories ensued. But Cruz is asking for an investigation to find out whether or not his Twitter account has been hacked, and more importantly, who made the unauthorized tweet.

Stay tuned, folks. It's now three weeks before the Nov. 8 election. It's only beginning to get crazy.
