National March for Life Condemns ‘Island’ of Abortion Access in Illinois

Jeanne Mancini, President of the National March for Life, is appalled by Illinois’ “island” of abortion access.

According to a Nov. 30, 2018, Chicago Tribune report, over 5,500 women traveled to Illinois last year to have an abortion. Illinois’ lack of abortion regulations or restrictions draws pregnant women across the borders from Midwest states that have policies more protective of mothers and their preborn babies.

Mancini is the keynote speaker at the 2019 March for Life Chicago, occurring in downtown Chicago on January 13.

“Abortion harms both women and their babies,” Mancini said. “It is not health care. As the U.S. celebrates a declining abortion rate, the lowest ever since its legalization via Roe v. Wade, Illinois is moving in the wrong direction.

“So many aspects factor into these trends, including grassroots mobilization and policy that protects the inherent dignity of the human person. I am enormously motivated and grateful to participate in the 2019 March for Life Chicago and I encourage all residents of Illinois to join us. In doing so, we can help to build a culture of life that Illinois desperately needs. We look forward to the day that abortion is unthinkable, in Illinois and elsewhere.”
