In a new video, prayer leaders Lou Engle of TheCall and Matt Lockett of Bound4LIFE International share details of two court cases being heard on Jan. 13—and why believers should care about the outcome.

Lockett, Executive Director of Bound4LIFE International, notes that these two cases at the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals are challenges to state laws: one in Arkansas, one in North Dakota. “Both cases involve laws that ban abortion based on when a baby’s heartbeat can be detected,” he says.

“Legal matters require patience, and these things take time,” continues Lockett. “We are called to be a people who watch and pray.”

Lou Engle also urges persistence in prayer and standing for life. “I want to encourage everyone to a renewed commitment to pray for the courts of America,” he says. “Our prayers actually move and shift history. William Wilberforce took 50 years to see the slave trade end. We must have no less that kind of spirit.”

Engle has been involved with Bound4LIFE International since 2004, playing a significant role in its founding. He is best known as leader of TheCall, a prayer movement of solemn assemblies that recently marked its 14th year in ministry.

More than 100 Bound4LIFE local chapters worldwide, standing in “Silent Siege” for the ending of abortion and for revival, look to Lockett and his Washington-based team for ongoing prayer points on life issues.

Jeremy Jacobs, who leads the local Bound4LIFE chapter in St. Louis with his wife, Melissa, underlines why the two cases are so important. “Many innocent lives in Arkansas and North Dakota are on the line, which drives us to take our appeals to the Judge of Heaven,” he says.

Jacobs concludes, “Court decisions have the potential to resonate across the nation … and America could change in a heartbeat.”

Following Tuesday’s hearing, a decision by the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals is expected in a matter of months.
