How You Can Build Your Life and Ministry on the Spirit’s Power

Share:

No ministry or saint can advance far in spiritual things without a life of praying regularly in the Spirit, being consistently filled with the Spirit and being led by the Spirit.

You will never learn to navigate in life’s troubled waters and come into a port of peace without the aid the Holy Spirit gives. Without being acquainted with the one Jesus gave us, we are at such a disadvantage.

As we age and develop our faith, we become more sensitive and receptive to His leadings and guidance. It’s a lifetime pursuit and one that should produce great joy and peace.

Those who are truly sons of God are led by the Spirit of God (see Rom. 8:14). Praying in other tongues helps me and will help you immensely in this regard.

Missionary Days

As a young missionary on an apostolic team that was divinely commissioned, I received the Spirit’s training on how to build a life and ministry in the Spirit. We’ve made our share of mistakes, but none too costly that set us back too far. Thank God for His goodness and His mercy! He works with us and trains us up in the way we should go so that when we are old, we will not depart from it but instead will help equip others.

Our apostolic leader set the example for a lifetime of making our feet like hind’s feet and walking on our prayers—and being led by the Holy Spirit.

I believe the greatest thing we can learn and devote our entire lives to is being led by the Spirit. Being grounded and saturated in the Scriptures is a huge part of that.

Our apostolic leader prayed much in other tongues until he knew what to do and how to do it. While I was under his leadership, it seemed as though every move he made produced much fruit to the glory of God. Time and space will not allow me to share the many examples. There is a smattering of them in our many writings and books.

Our apostolic leader once made this statement that totally altered my perspective of life and ministry: “The inward witness is just as great as Jesus appearing to you and speaking audibly to you.”

Wow! It is a sure way, if we can just learn how to receive it.

When someone comes to me and asks me about a certain matter concerning the will of God, I usually tell them to go pray in tongues for several hours over a period of days, and they’ll know what to do. The Lord helped us build a missionary life and many works that way.

Giving Birth to Life and Ministry Callings and Assignments

My wife, Carolyn, and I see everything that is not Spirit-directed as a failure in life and ministry. Even most of my books have been birthed through tongues and interpretation—meaning that we prayed until the theme of each book and even some chapters took shape inside me, and I knew. It’s never been a struggle for me to write. If it is, I just stop.

Even the direction and assignment to write came by the Spirit. “It is your life’s greatest work,” He said.

In America, books are a jungle of knowledge, and it takes a keen observer to know the difference between the wisdom of God and the wisdom of this age. Most books are a mixture. But when they are birthed in the Spirit and a word from the Lord, they will stick to you.

For instance, I know that the last few books I’ve written are forerunners for what is to come—to help prepare the church for the transition into another age and era that we have no grid for. I am consumed with this assignment both here and in the nations. Because I don’t have a large platform, most Christians don’t pay attention. On the other hand, I’ve been trained to look for God in the common and the obscure. I’ve learned over the years that just because it is popular with men does not mean it is always popular with God, and vice versa.

Fads and trends come and go, but a work built on the Spirit of God will outlive you and will produce much fruit. I have a witness of that concerning our books. Christians didn’t really appreciate the writings of many of God’s authors until they were gone, but their books are still being read. In fact, the anointing on some of the old-timers’ writings have so much more depth and substance than many of today’s fluff because they were consecrated and prayerful men.

Just because something is new, popular, big and grows fast does not necessarily mean it’s after God’s heart or filled with His Spirit. {eoa}

Bert Farias books are forerunners to personal holiness, the move of God and the return of the Lord. They also combat the departure from the faith and turning away from the truth we are seeing in this hour. His current passion is to promote a culture of the supernatural manifestations and ministries of the Holy Spirit in the church today and to pass it on to the next generation. Passing on the Move of God to the Next Generation, The Supernatural Church of Love and Power and The Coming Restoration are a simple blueprint for what the Lord Jesus is doing in His church today. Bert’s newest releases are now available on Kindle and paperback. Other materials/resources are available on his website, Holy Fire Ministries.
