Are We Living in the End of the Age?

We are almost in the middle of 2021! It's been over a full year since the coronavirus pandemic was declared. Some U.S. states are open or opening, while others are mandating more restrictions. Troops are scheduled to be fully withdrawn from Afghanistan after 20 years of war. Socialism is rising under the banner of progressivism. There's a crisis on the southern border, and leaders are ignoring their responsibilities or throwing shade on the real issues. Are we living in the end of the age?

That was the question I asked Cindy Coates, Ph.D., on this episode of Adventures in the Spirit on the Charisma Podcast Network. Her life has been dedicated to pastoring prophets, helping plant seven churches in the last 30 years and teaching eschatology. Her doctoral dissertation was written to answer numerous questions that we've all been hearing recently.

However, these questions are not new. People have been asking for centuries if they are about to see the "end of the age." They see wars, famines, earthquakes, civil and political unrest. And these are global events. People of all nations read Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21 and the book of Revelation wondering if the times they are living in and their nation are fulfilling Scripture.

In America alone, people wondered if the Revolution was culminating to the final battle seen in the book of Revelation. The American Civil War was later considered by some to be it, and then others pointed to World War I and World War II. Pastors taught how Mussolini was the Antichrist, but that didn't pan out. In my lifetime, I've seen people point to Y2K (which fizzled), 9/11 and other events as leading up to the "end of the age." Or that Saddam or Osama or even U.S. political leaders were the Antichrist. But then those thoughts and viewpoints faded away in time.

With these things in mind, Coates said, "This topic is so foundational. I was taught wrong along with millions of other believers. We were taught a flawed view of eschatology."

She continued saying, "Once you see the truth, you can't unsee it. And that is where I am now. In Matthew 24 and 25, the Olivet Discourse, Jesus is having a conversation with Peter, John, James and Andrew. When you see this in context, you will avoid pretext which is error."

Coates said, "Jesus is on the Mount of Olive talking to four of His followers. When you continue to read all the way through Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21 you see who He is talking to. Jesus was talking to them during Holy Week looking from the Mount of Olives toward the temple. These disciples asked Jesus 'Tell us, when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?' This is one question divided up into three parts. And Jesus' response answered all three parts in reference to one coming event."

It was an incredible conversation you don't want to miss.
