Social justice prophets will gain momentum as they lift their voices louder than ever before. God is going to impress upon true prophets some specific causes to champion.

Some may ask, "What is a social justice prophet?" If you look at Martin Luther King, Jr., you are looking at a 20th-century social justice prophet.

Think of what social justice is: crying out against unfair inequalities in the realms of opportunities, wealth or rights. Most prophets have a social justice cause, but God has bent some to be major social justice voices and to prophesy into these causes and against oppressors.

Amos was a social justice prophet, as were many other prophets in the Bible. Amos, though, is consider by many to be a model of the social justice prophet. Study his life and ministry in the Bible, and you will discern the reasons why.

Amos prophesied things like this: "For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, because they sell the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of sandals. They pant after the dust of the earth which is on the head of the poor, and pervert the way of the humble. A man and his father go in to the same girl, to defile My holy name" (Amos 2:6b-7, NKJV).

Micah prophesied: "Now hear this, you heads of the house of Jacob and rulers of the house of Israel, who abhor justice and pervert all equity, who build up Zion with bloodshed and Jerusalem with iniquity: Her heads judge for a bribe, Her priests teach for pay, and her prophets divine for money" (Mic. 3:9-11a).
