Dino Kartsonakis: Kathryn Kuhlman Told Me the Secret to Her Miracle Ministry

Share:

Over 45 years after her death, Kathryn Kuhlman is still inspiring people to walk in the Holy Spirit. Her miraculous healing ministry touched countless lives. Many left her meetings healed or filled with the Spirit.

My friend Dino Kartsonakis served on Kuhlman’s team with his incredible anointing to worship on the piano. He played many songs on her crusades, including “Alleluia.” He’s well-known in his own right for his powerful renditions of hymns and worship songs, but he had the rare opportunity of seeing Kuhlman up close and asking her the million-dollar question: What’s your secret?

But Kuhlman’s response perhaps wasn’t quite what Dino was expecting. On my podcast, he tells me about their conversation over dinner one night.

“I said, ‘Katherine, what is the secret to those miracles?'” Dino says. “‘You know, Dino, sometimes I’m amazed,’ she would say. ‘It’s just not me. It’s just the supernatural power.’ Then I kept thinking about what she did on the platform. The word that describes the miracles is ‘love.’ She loved people.”

Dino says Kuhlman would often walk into a service and love the thousands in attendance as if she were alone with them.

“With that love, that passion to see healings in their bodies and spirits, especially salvation, people are healed left and right. Love is very powerful, and Kathryn Kuhlman had that,” he says.

Now, when Dino goes out on stage to minister, he chooses the love the same way. He knows the ministry is about the people, not him.

Another secret Dino learned from Kuhlman is how to rely completely on the Spirit when ministering.

“When I walk out on stage, I depend solely on the Holy Spirit,” he says. “So I hit those keys, they go right out into the hearts of people, and it brings them into the atmosphere of worship, an atmosphere of love and healing. We’ve seen many healings take place in our concerts and our ministry.”

Lately, Dino has been focusing on bringing back some powerful hymns into popularity. When Billy Graham died, Dino recorded a live rendition of several hymns Graham used in his crusades, including “Just as I Am,” “Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus” and “It Is Well With My Soul.”

That recording received a half-million hits, Dino tells me. People texted him to say, “Thank you; we don’t hear those hymns anymore. Please keep playing them.” Others told him that he needed to do something to make sure today’s Christians remember those powerful hymns.

To Dino, the response was too overwhelming to ignore. So he decided to start a new CD project called Hymn Restoration, for which he recorded 101 hymns exactly the way they are in the hymnal. There are many albums of hymns, but Dino’s project is unique in that he provides some historical background. The companion book gives the lyrics of each hymn and a devotional to accompany each one.

“Pastors have been calling us—and concert promoters—saying, ‘Please bring it here. We want that hymn revival,'” Dino says. “That happened within a week or two. That’s how much favor God has got on this, and He wants the people to come back to where it all started.”

You can learn more about Dino and his project on his Facebook page here. Every Tuesday night, Dino does a live video on his Facebook of his weekly Bible studies when he plays. People pray for each other on his Facebook page during this time, and many are reporting miracles as a result!

“We’re hearing miracles,” he says. “Someone just said, ‘I was healed of cancer. I went back to my doctor, and I no longer have cancer. The doctor can’t believe that [I was healed] through the prayer on Facebook.”

You can also reach Dino via email at [email protected] and find his hymnal project on Amazon.

I also have a treat for those of you who listen to the podcast. At the end of the episode, I share one of Dino’s renditions of “At the Cross.” Be sure you listen until the end—I think you’ll be blessed by what you hear. {eoa}
